What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis inserts a single-use, disposable probe into the hair follicle and a slight electric current is delivered to the root of the hair follicle, creating heat to destroy it. There are a variety of modalities. All modalities will affect only the active hair follicle, making this a direct route to target unwanted hair. It is very important to treat hairs in the correct stage of their growth cycle. The desired stage is when hairs are first growing.
The hairs are treated one-by-one so electrolysis is usually performed on smaller areas, but it can treat hair almost anywhere on the body.
Why do electrolysis?
Electrolysis can be performed on any skin color and on any hair color.
Electrolysis, unlike laser, can treat grey, white, blonde, and red hairs.
If you have persistent leftover hairs after laser treatments, electrolysis can treat them.
Men often receive electrolysis on their beards to remove unwanted grays as they begin to grow in.
For those individuals who have a darker skin tone and cannot safely be treated with laser hair removal, electrolysis is a great alternative.
What to expect:
Our hair is constantly changing and many things can impact its growth as well as activate dormant hair follicles. Generally, electrolysis results are noticeable within 3-4 treatments and can take 12-18 months for completion.
It is recommended to treat the hair right as it emerges for optimal results. Consistency is key for the best results.
Redness, swelling, and some light scabbing is normal after treatment. This can appear 2-3 days later.
